Specifications
Canon's A-series has been their budget line, yet the features on these models are more than enough for the casual shooter. They're a little boxier than the ELPHs and certainly not as stylish, yet these latest models feature 16 megapixel sensors and decent zoom ranges.
Core specifications are identical to the A810 and A1300 other than the switch to a rechargeable battery instead of AA's. This simple change yields a substantially lighter and smaller camera. For an extra ten dollars you can get image stabilization in the A2400, so go that route if you can afford it.
